Organisers of the world's biggest sporting trade fair, the ISPO,announced a new South African sporting concept as the overall winner of their innovative Brand New Awards. The sport invented in the Southern Cape by Knysna based brothers Mark and John Collins was Africa's only submission for the award at the international expo and has its origins as a back yard contest in their home town - but if the recognition from the ISPO's expert panel of 22 international jurors is anything to go by, then it could be destined to become a world sport.
360ball is a ball and racquet sport and what makes it unique,as the name suggest, is thatit is played in a circular court with no separate sides. The concept behind this dynamic game which combines elements from no fewer than 5 other global sports was adjudge good enough to head off applications from over 300 other innovations from the international sports industry.
The team will travel to Germany in February to showcase this new sport to the world to no fewer than 64 000 thousand sporting industry delegates from 177 countries by staging the first ever 360ball World Championships.
